Westly Street, John Holland, Don Payne, Pastor Arthur Craig with Ukraine Campers By Don Payne Hi, all you Woodhaven Members -   The Ukraine team had a great time with the good deaf in Ukraine.  I was glad that John Holland has learned a lot about cults.  We thank God so much for his protection of us in Ukraine, and with everything that happened during the trip.  God blessed us with a very safe trip.  We had a great time, always working hard to help the Ukraine people through teaching and drama.  The Ukraine Deaf send a big "hello" to Woodhaven and you American Deaf.  They are praying for our home church, Woodhaven, so I want to ask you to also pray for the deaf people in Ukraine.  Thank you all for your prayers.  God's blessings to all to you, my sisters and brothers in Christ. My First Experience in Ukraine By John Holland I was excited and getting prepared on July 15 to leave Houston to go to Ukraine. The trip was very long, taking 13 hours to arrive in Paris, France. We made it, me and the other three from Texas. We sat in an airplane for several hours, waiting until, at last, it was time to leave for Ukraine. We arrived there late, but they waited for us. Whew, I knew the Lord would make everything all right. We met two people from Ukraine and they took us to one of their cars. I want tell you what happened. There were two cars. The drivers told me they drove seven hours to meet us. We started our trip, and after we drove awhile the car overheated. We stopped on the highway and the driver tried to fix the car. I saw him take Coke and pour it into the hot water in the radiator! Whoa! But it worked so drove a few hours more before the car radiator became hot again. Three times we stopped because the car overheated! That’s why we arrived very late, and very tired, close to midnight. Early the next morning I woke up and walked outside. The camp in L’viv was so nice a place. I was very quiet and I did not know their Sign Language. I not know what to do, so I tried to meet the deaf there. I tried to catch their Sign Language, and I asked Don for help. Don taught me some of the Ukraine Sign Language. After a few hours I had learned a lot of their Sign Language. I really was surprised that I could do things with them. I joined with them to play and eat, sing songs, etc. I enjoyed the three-day stay there, then we went to another camp for three days. I don’t know the name of the area in Ukraine, but I can tell you more stories about the trip. I enjoyed teaching, drama, songs and crafts. A new friend tried to teach me USL, how to sign a song, but I was not a great success so my Ukraine friend and I performed a song in my ASL and her USL. I had so much fun. I loved it and I want to learn more USL. Finally we traveled to another city, while we were sight-seeing the many areas in Ukraine. Thank you for your support and helping me take the trip to Ukraine. I want to give a verse that means a lot to me: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".  I was surprised by what I could do! * * * * * * * * 2007 January "Christmas" Ukraine Mission By Don Payne Dear Woodhaven Family Tim Bender and I had a really wonderful time on the ministry trip to Ukraine and God didn't give up on us.  We did need God to help us all though the ministry trip.  Thanks be to God in all things, and for keeping us safe during everything that happened on the trip. God is good. We went to a school and all the kids were very excited to see us and talk about God’s Word.  And they loved to chat with us. We went to a deaf club; there was a pretty good number of people there.
