On May 22 during the Sunday School hour, we had a breakfast for the parents. Students were eager to show what they had been working on since last September. They have been taking a journey through the entire Bible and have finished the Old Testament, 39 books. Each book studied had a theme verse, worksheets, and art work to add to the wall.
Alyssa shared her favorite about David and his defeat of Goliath. It was not by David's might that Goliath was defeated, but through the strength and dependence on the Lord. Lori told the group about Proverbs. She drew and painted a large owl on the wall to represent wisdom. She explained that the book of Proverbs teaches us how to live Godly and wise.
Keyara shared about her favorite book, Jonah. God told Jonah to go and preach to the people at Nineveh, but he went the opposite direction. Trying to hide from God never works. The people of Nineveh did repent and God saved them. Our God is always ready to hear our prayers and forgives everything.
Mrs. Mustain spoke and so did Pastor Craig. There were 3 adults that visited from Dan Mustain's class too. The students will be taking a break during the month of June so they can attend Vacation Bible School. Lisa Smith will teach beginning in July as they continue the journey through the New Testament.
The children's department has been very busy! Last September, the 4th-6th Sunday School class decided to go on an adventure through the Bible. Instead of the regular curriculum studied by all other kids that age, they began a one year study of the ENTIRE BIBLE. The material will take them through all 66 books of the bible. It is called "Route 66". One book of the Bible is studied each week. Then the students illustrate that book and paint the wall to remember what was important in that book. They are also keeping a notebook of each lesson as well as the Key verse from each book. Alyssa, Lashelle, Keyarra, and Lori enjoy the challenge of drawing the stories, painting the walls, and visualizing the Bible. There are times when they leave these fun things and have special Sundays. One week they had a Passover meal with authentic food, candles, and matzo. Recently as they studied the book of Esther, they held a "Feast of Purim", with the traditional cookies and juice. If you have a student in the grades 4-6th, bring them to Sunday School. One hour a week in God's Word can change their lives!
